Mandal (मण्डल) is a village in Chamoli district in the Garhwal division of Uttarakhand, India. It lies at roughly 1,501 metres above sea level, in the middle hills belt of Garhwal. As the crow flies it is about 120 km from Dehradun and 7 km from Gopeshwar, the district headquarters. The nearest town is Gopeshwar (7 km).

About Chamoli district
Chamoli district holds some of Uttarakhand’s most famous places: Badrinath, the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib, Auli near Joshimath, Gopeshwar, and the confluences of Nandprayag and Karnaprayag. The Chipko movement began here, in Reni village.

Climate: Pleasant summers (roughly 15–28°C), a wet monsoon, and cold winters with frost and occasional light snow at the higher end.
Best time to visit: March to June and September to November.
Terraced fields, pine and oak forests and stone houses with slate roofs are typical of this belt.
During the monsoon (July to September), check road conditions before you travel. Hill roads can be blocked by landslides.
