Chamba is a village in Tehri Garhwal district in the Garhwal division of Uttarakhand, India. It lies at roughly 1,593 metres above sea level, in the middle hills belt of Garhwal. As the crow flies it is about 35 km from Dehradun and 5 km from New Tehri, the district headquarters. The nearest town is Chamba (under 1 km).
About Tehri Garhwal district
Tehri Garhwal was the seat of the old Tehri princely state. Today it is known for the Tehri dam lake, New Tehri town, Chamba, the Dhanaulti and Kanatal hills, the Surkanda Devi and Kunjapuri temples, and the Bhilangana and Bhagirathi valleys.
