Simaila (सिमैला) is a village in Barakot tehsil of Champawat district in the Kumaon division of Uttarakhand, India. It lies at roughly 1,296 metres above sea level, in the middle hills belt of Kumaon. As the crow flies it is about 44 km from Haldwani and 33 km from Champawat, the district headquarters. About Champawat district
Champawat was the first capital of the Chand dynasty and is known for the Baleshwar temple, the hill town of Lohaghat, Abbott Mount and the Devidhura Bagwal at Maa Barahi temple on Raksha Bandhan. Purnagiri temple near Tanakpur draws large crowds in spring.
