Kota is a village in Dehradun district in the Garhwal division of Uttarakhand, India. It lies at roughly 784 metres above sea level, in the lower river valleys belt of Garhwal. As the crow flies it is about 49 km from Dehradun and 49 km from Dehradun, the district headquarters. The nearest town is Chakrata (11 km).

Dehradun district runs from the Doon valley and the state capital up to the hill station of Mussoorie and the Jaunsar-Bawar tribal region around Chakrata, with the Yamuna on its western edge. Rishikesh and Doiwala lie in its south-east, and Jolly Grant airport serves the whole of Garhwal.
